Elizabeth Rotenberry and her family, who are near and dear to us, will take center stage to share their experiences as caregivers to a combat-disabled veteran.

Their story is a powerful echo of the collective journey many of us navigate—a reality I’ve been sharing on JavaCupcake since 2014. During the production, 60 Minutes interviewed with more than 60 families over hundreds of hours, including ours.

During our interview, their team listened intently as our children, Emily and Matthew, bravely shared what it’s like to grow up with the weight of war shadows looming over their childhood.

These stories of unseen struggles and remarkable resilience are what you’ll witness in this 60 Minutes segment.

As you watch tonight, remember that each story is a piece of a larger mosaic of courage, sacrifice, and resilience that binds us together.

With deep appreciation,
Betsy

👉How to Watch “Children of War”

Overview:
Correspondent Scott Pelley reports on America’s children of war, often overlooked, who live with disabled military veterans. Millions of American youth across the country navigate complex childhoods, witness the emotional and physical impact of service on wounded warriors, and help the veteran and their families through hard times. Pelley speaks with Senator Elizabeth Dole, who created a foundation to support military caregivers, and two families of U.S. veterans who have carried the burden of America’s post-9/11 wars. Aaron Weisz and Ian Flickinger are the producers.
